Hobo Stew– you want me to eat what?!
I think that there were many skeptical people both young and old at the church on October 22. I know for sure that there were many who expressed concern over the thought of each one bringing a different can of soup, throwing them all in a pot and then eating it!
It is a little odd when you throw some tomato with chicken noodle, with beef and barley (among the types of soup present), but the end result was unanimously delicious! |
There was also a great deal of good fellowship between some of the teens and some of the elderberries, and we all had a great time. I want to thank Jeanne Jones and Derrold Jones for their help with this activity, and we are grateful to the elderberries for allowing us to crash a party and have some fun with them.
P.S. It was also fun to watch my little Austin clean up on bowling!

What do you believe?
This is a series of questions I want to ask in our newsletter in order to facilitate a discussion that will start on Wednesday nights in 2012. If you would like to answer this question, please message me on Facebook with your answer?
This month's questions: How do we know who God is? How can we trust what we know?

. . .”making mention of you in
my prayers; that the God of
our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Father of glory, may give you
a spirit of wisdom and of revelation
in the knowledge of
Him.”
Eph. 1:16b—17 (NASB)
This is an interesting prayer
that Paul prays for the believers
in the church in Ephesus.
After all, don’t they know God already—they are believers.
So often we define knowing God as the entering
into a relationship with Him
at salvation.
|
It is true that we
cannot know God at all in any
real way until the Holy Spirit illuminates our hearts and
drives us toward repentance
and faith. When this occurs
however, we do not know God as we should. Our Christian lives are a process
of growth in the knowledge of
God and His work on our behalf.
Salvation is the start of
a wonderful process of knowing
God that goes beyond life itself into
eternity.
|
When we see
God face to
face we will
know Him in
a way beyond
any earthly knowledge. And yet, Paul prays that these believers
would know God better. |
|
Perhaps we should strive
to know God better daily, and
learn how he thinks, and how
he acts and morph our lives
into lives that look like the life
he intends for us. Know God! |
