Dear friends and church family,
Our recently adopted church logo depicts a tree
rooted by the wavy waters of a river. It is based
on the scripture passage of Psalm 1:1-3. It is a
reminder that, if we want the blessings of God
upon our life, we must be deeply rooted in His
Word, and draw our wisdom, strength, and
guidance from what the Lord reveals to us in
the Bible.
Two things that every Christian needs to be involved with are fellowshipping with other believers and sharing the Gospel with others (Act 2:46-47). On Saturday, February 24, Pete Mothershead of Santa Clarita, California, will be with us from 9:30 am to 3:00pm to teach a natural, non-threatening way of sharing our faith in a Balanced Evangelism Seminar. The $20 cost covers three training sessions, a 140 page workbook, a training CD, and a box lunch from Jimmy John's. Pete will also be preaching in our Sunday morning service on February 25th.
Also, we are establishing "Church Fellowship Groups" throughout our church family. On the south hallway wall of our church are sign-up sheets. We are asking the entire church family to find a place for fellowship on the third Sunday of every month, either at 3:00pm or 6:00pm. Through these two new efforts, we can deepen our spiritual roots, and as a result, see spiritual fruit in our lives. By now, you have learned that our Youth Pastor, JJ Hairston, has accepted a call to be the senior pastor of another church. We are grateful for his faithful years of service here. The church will have a send off dinner for him and his wife Nanelle after the morning service on March 4th, his last Sunday here. Please plan to attend and consider sharing some words of appreciation to them for their ministry here. For more information about this send off, please call the church office.
In Christ,
John Norris, Pastor
Wow, it's a great year already for the Reverside Youth Department. We had a wonderful time at snow trip and our teens were able to get away and focus on God's Word and what He has for their lives. Several made decisions about their relationship with Christ and how to improve that. Every year snow trip seeems to get better and better for our students and their walk. We are looking forward to a great year with many exciting activities and events for our youth so please continue to pray for them.
Thanks for all you do,
Pastor JJ
