  • From Women's Ministry

Ladies, may I say right up front without your participation in our Riverside Women's Ministry we could not function. You are the best. Thank you!!

Our book club, led by Nikki Walker will have it's next discussion group Monday, Nov. 21, 7:00 pm at Panera Bread. The book to be discussed is "french Wind, Fresh Fire" by Jim Cymbaia.

Our retreat at Lake Williamson Cokfrerence Center on Sept. 24 & 25 was a great success. Twenty-seven ladies attended. Speaker Lisa Cowmen once again gave us just what we needed to hear from the word of God under the direction of the Holy Spirit. The ladies had a lot of fun relaxation and enjoyed getting to know each in fellowship. Praise the Lord!

Don't forget about the Christmas Cookie Walk coming on November 29th at 7:00 pm. our theme is "This Christmas... be dazzled not frazzled." Nanelle Hairston will be the speaker. Please sign up and more importantly, INVITE A FRIEND! Invitation are on the Welcome Center.

Going forward for Christ,

Joan Mirabai

  • Children's Christmas Program 2010 (photos)- The First Leon
Our Riverside Children's Department presented a Christmas musical play on December 19th 2010 in our morning service hour. Under the direction of Lori Harrier and Sheila Long, the children did a wonderful job, singing, acting and entertaining.

In the program, we saw the Christmas story through the eyes of Leon. Leon is...special. Ever since he discovered that his name spelled backwards is Noel, he's felt called to tell the world the true meaning of Christmas. But when he tries out for every role in the annual pageant, he finds that he's the only one who doesn't get a part. Rejected.... Now Leon understands better than anyone how Mary and Joseph must have felt when they heard the words. "No room" that night in Bethlehem. Without really tryng to, however, Leon does uncover the true meaning of Christmas when he identifies the real Star of Bethlehem.

  • Children's Christmas Program 2011 (photos)- The Next Noel
Leon is again at the center of the action, only this year, he, having matured from the simple state of understudy, is directing the Christmas pageant. He has grand and lofty dreams and expectations for the program. However, the closer the cast gets to opening night, the more wildly overstated and ridiculous Leon's ideas become - and more importantly, the more the program becomes all about Leon's initiative instead of God's miracle at Christmas.
