• New Life Pregnancy Center will be holding a 2 part training session for new volunteers March 5 & 19 from 8 am - 5 pm. Attendance at both sessions is required. The training will be held at New Life Pregnancy Center 1698 E. Pershing Rd., Decatur. For additional information or to register, call 872-5556. Registration deadline is Tuesday, March 1st.
  


• Children's Christmas Program 2010 (photos)- The First Leon
  Our Riverside Children's Department presented a Christmas musical play on December 19th 2010 in our morning service hour. Under the direction of Lori Harrier and Sheila Long, the children did a wonderful job, singing, acting and entertaining.
  
  In the program, we saw the Christmas story through the eyes of Leon. Leon is...special. Ever since he discovered that his name spelled backwards is Noel, he's felt called to tell the world the true meaning of Christmas. But when he tries out for every role in the annual pageant, he finds that he's the only one who doesn't get a part. Rejected.... Now Leon understands better than anyone how Mary and Joseph must have felt when they heard the words. "No room" that night in Bethlehem. Without really tryng to, however, Leon does uncover the true meaning of Christmas when he identifies the real Star of Bethlehem.
  
  
• From Women's Ministry
  Dear Friends,

  Here we are again starting a new fall season with hope in our hearts that the Lord will just be glorified in all that we do.

  We recently had a Ladies Retreat at the beautiful Lake Williamson Conference Center in Carlinville, IL. The theme centered around the book of Esther. May our hearts be surrendered to Him, minds refocused on Christ and our bodies strengthened and refreshed.

  Be alert to what's on the agenda for our Women's Ministry.

  Bible Study - starting in Oct.
  Book Club - Oct. 18th
  Christmas Outreach - Nov. 30 and much more as the Lord leads. If you can be of help please let us know by signing up on the bulletin board.

• Primary Church will be for 1st through 4th graders. The 5th and 6th graders, who have previously been in Primary Church will remain in the sanctuary during the morning service.
  
• SeaQuest - Driving for God's Treasure / Vacation Bible School
  For 4 years thru 6th grade, from June 7 - 11. Thank you, all for helping out our VBS this year!!! (See photos)
  
• GOLF BENEFIT 2010 (Decatur Christian Education Foundation)
  On Sept. 11, 2010, Riverside was the organizing sponsor of a golf benefit for Decatur Christian Education Foundation. We had 47 golfers come out on what started to be a cloudy day, but turned sunny by tee-off time. Although a little drizzle in the middle of the round, most finished in bright sunshine.
  None of our 4 hole-in-one prizes were won, but the excitement and challenge of the opportunity was a lot of fun!
  
  Our first place team: Kyle Pflum, John VanDyke, Steve Spinner and Mike Lingenfelter. They each received a $60 Park District gift card. One of their players also won the longest drive competition. The second place team, who received $40 gift card prizes, was Steve O’Brien, Tanker Wade, Steve Nelson, and Mike Fleckenstine.
  
  D.C.E.F should be able to help out several families with the almost $6,000 that was raised thanks to ALL the sponsonrs and golfers!
