A Word From Our Assistant Pastor

May is a busy month in the youth ministry! People are graduating and you are gearing up for your summer ministries like missions trips (this year to Shepherds) and planning summer events (which are a lot of fun because they are outdoors!) In all of the business I am always reminded that for the High School and College Graduates, this is a time of great change. In each of our lives we go though stages. In each stage of our life there are different challenges that we face, different obstacles, different joys, and many differences.

However there is a great deal of similarity. With each change comes uncertainty. That is something that never changes. With each stage there is always the hope and anticipation of that which is to come. It does not matter whether you are graduating from High school and anxiously anticipating the highs and lows of college life, or if you are getting married, or if you are close to retirement, the anxiety and hope of what is to come is always there.

I just want to remind us of two things during these times of change.

1. God is Sovereign.

God does not ever lose control of our lives, not even for an instant. He will be there in each season, caring and guiding us in the way that He would have us go. This has always been of great comfort to me.

2. God calls us to be there for each other.

Since the anxiety and hope are constants no matter what our age, we can encourage and build one another up. This is the responsibility of the church. If you are graduating High School, ask someone who is retiring for wisdom. They have it to give. If you are going to become a great grandmother for the first time, ask a first time mom for prayer. In doing so we will find comfort and peace that can come only from God.

Serving with you
